“Coax Cable Antenna Switch”

I built the coax cable antenna switch which was published on the QST, April, 2005 issue.  It was designed by KO4NR, Bill Smith.  I do not have much experience and knowledge of the relays and antenna switch itself so I took advantage of his expertise.

It took me more than one year from buying the parts and building it.  I bought the relays and the PC board from the suppliers described in the magazine.  The rest of parts were purchased locally and I used some parts that I had on hand such as a rotary switch.

I modified the control box and added LEDs as position indicators.  As I said on this blog a couple of months ago, LEDs are less expensive and easy to use.  This modification made the control box more professional looking and nice ham equipment.  I will give the modified schematic for the control box if you request me.

The pictures are up-loaded on the album of my blog here.   I used an aluminum lunch box I got in a local flea market for one dollar.   A new lunch box are made by plastic these days and it may not be durable for outside installation.

I would like to say my appreciation to VE3FBH, Frank, who helps me every time for my homebrew projects.  He did the precise punching for SO-239, chassis mount coaxial connectors.  It had 7 holes and the final assembly became easy due to his excellent work.  Thanks, Frank, for your great help.

The performance:

The switch was completed and installed on August 4^th.  The switch works excellent on HF bands.  I tried 2m band connected to the switch and a high SWR was shown on my meter and I will use this for HF band only.

The cost of building the switch was low and less expensive, as described in the magazine, and it is worth making one.

「アンテナ　切り替えスイッチ」

私のアンテナは40mバンドのループアンテナと20mバズーカ　垂直アンテナの2本を使っています。　ループアンテナはチューナーで80mから10mバンドまで出られます。　20mバズーカ垂直アンテナは基本的に、モノバンダーですが、チューナ無しで、15mバンドにも支障なく送信できます。　シャックからアンテナまでは同軸ケーブルが1本しかなく、QST、2005年4月号に出ている、アンテナ　切り替えスイッチを作ることにしました。　このスイッチは6本のアンテナを接続し切り替えて使えます。

部品購入から組み立てまで約1年かかりました。　PCボードとリレーは本に出ている店から買い、他の部品はローカルの店と手持ちの部品を使ってつくりあげました。　

2ヶ月ほど前の私のブログにLEDの使い方を書きました。　手持ちにも10個のLED（発光ダイオード）があったので、コントロールボックスのスイッチの位置を示す、ポジション　インジケーターを加え、どのスイッチで、どのアンテナに接続しているかわかるように改造し、本に出ている配線図にLEDを付け加えました。　私のこの配線図を希望の方はメールをして下さい。　　また、このブログのアルバムの写真を参考に見てください。　コントロール　ボックスは赤いLEDが点灯し、見栄えもよく、自分では気に入っています。　

結果：

HF帯では本に書いてあった通り、全く問題なく、期待どおりに動作しています。　２ｍバンドも試しましたが、SWRが高く、HF帯だけで使う事としました。　

かかった費用は、本に記されているように、通常買う時の半分くらいか、それ以下でしょう。　日本のブログやサイトにも、この種のアンテナスイッチの製作の情報がありますので、試してみてください。
